Touch screen compete with Samsung in the iPhone

“Touch screen mobile phone to take a larger portion of sales of mobile phones, but do not have a significant impact on profits because in the end had to cut prices to attract the public,” said Hanwha Securities analyst Seo Do.

“What we see from the smartphone market, Samsung is still much weaker than Apple, RIM and Nokia. Samsung has strength in its functions and hardware, but weak in software and services compared to competitors,” said Seo.

Samsung, which followed the Nokia of Finland said on Monday was on track to exceed sales targets mobile phones in 2009, with a touchscreen model that enjoyed sharp growth.

The company previously aimed to sell more than 200 million phones this year, after selling a little less than that figure in 2008.

The most popular devices from Apple’s iPhone made its debut in South Korea last week after local regulators cleared the final hurdle in the market with 47 million cell phone users.

Basing on the power of mobile features, Samsung and LG have recently added their smartphone line up to compete with Apple and BlackBerry maker, Research In Motion.

Samsung said the global market share in handsets grew by more than 20 percent for the first time in the third quarter, with telecommunications units get 10 percent profit margin in the third quarter, unchanged from the second quarter.

Research firm Gartner said this month the global mobile phone sales this year will be equivalent to 2008 and to grow 5-8 percent next year.
