tv 3dLG Electronics TV brand in the world’s No. 2 set aggressive sales targets 3D television. Target is to establish leadership in emerging markets that will heat up.

3D digital TV using a double-layered images and special glasses to fool the audience as if to see 3D. This technology will become the next battleground for the TV makers, including Samsung Electronics, Motorola and Japanese rivals Sony Corp. and Panasonic Corp.

LG aims to sell 400,000 TV 3D in 2010 and 3.4 million in the year 2011, the South Korean company said in a press conference.

The company plans to launch a full line of 3D TV with new technology improvements in the second half of next year by targeting retail customers. Motorola, now offers a new 47-inch 3D TV that are sold mostly to businesses because the price is high.

Some analysts are still cautious about the growing segment of this, the reason was the lack of 3D content that will cost about 50 percent more expensive than the regular versions.

“Sales of 3D TV and 3D content had to be together. Content providers will be reluctant to increase production of 3D before 3D TV sold, and TV sales will not be sold unless there is enough content available,” said JM Hong, Kiwoom Securities analyst.

Next year LG won the 3D TV to target a small portion of all sales of the TV. For their own LCD TV, LG expects to sell 25 million units in 2010.

Electronics and entertainment conglomerate Sony is expected to increase its strength in the contents of the first 3D TV launches next year.

Sony said last month that 3D TV is expected to reach 50 percent of the total TV shipment in the financial year to March 2013
